HGV Personnel
Job Purpose
- Safe operation of heavy goods vehicles, including articulated lorries, tankers, transporters and trailer wagons.
- Overseeing the loading and unloading of goods.
- Ensuring that loads are correctly placed and secured
- Maintaining a log of working hours and vehicle repairs in compliance with national regulations
- Conducting basic maintenance checks, including vehicle inspections and tire, oil, and brake checks before and after trips.
- Assist with the transportation of harvested crops to storage or market.
- Following and adhering to all traffic laws.
- Communicating with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers
- Planning routes using GPS systems to deliver goods in the most efficient manner.
- Carrying out necessary administrative tasks such as paperwork associated with the consignment of goods.
Salary
- Salary: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Pay Range: $25,000 minimum to $40,000 maximum
Responsibilities
- Transport and deliver goods over long distances in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable federal and state regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle, ensuring that it is safe and well-maintained.
- Plan routes using GPS system.
- Load and unload goods and ensure that they are safely secured.
- Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately.
- Manage schedules and meet delivery deadlines.
Requirements:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and clean driving record.
- Proven work experience as a Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver. Excellent physical condition and stamina to handle the demands of the role.
- Ability to drive for long periods and travel regularly.
- Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- No traffic violations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
